EWaste Responsibility
LINK is an EWaste responsible company. Every year millions of electronic devices like televisions, computers and mobile phones are discarded in Australia. In fact, e-waste is the fastest-growing component of the municipal solid waste stream. The Global E-Waste Monitor 2024 reported that the annual generation of e-waste is rising by 2.6 million tonnes annually, on track to reach 82 million tonnes by 2030, a further 33% increase from the 2022 figure of 62 million tonnes (Mt). At LINK we recognise the importance of both lifecycle management of Ewaste equipment and when electronic equipment needs to be upgraded it is managed and disposed of in accordance with our EWaste management processes. Items being sorted and diverted from landfill include servers, copper cabling, data drives, phone and intercom systems, CCTV cameras, steel and polymer camera enclosures.
Recyling and Reuse Programs
National Recycling Week, established by Planet Ark in 1996, is held every year during the second week of November. At LINK, we’re committed to creating a lasting and positive impact for people and the planet, and we strive to do that in a sustainable way. Research shows that effective waste segregation makes waste easier to recycle, reduces cost and lowers the amount of waste going to landfill – a win for the environment and our communities.
Following a recent waste audit, our teams have made improvements to waste management on our sites. Working closely with our waste management supplier JJ Richards and Sons and JJ’s Waste and Recycling, we provided our team with key educational material about different waste types including cardboard, organics, mixed recyclables and general waste.
